Made the pie as directed using your crusts. The bottom crust was soggy. Used the same crusts for several other pies, pecan and pumpkin, and the crusts are soggy. How can I stop this? I prefer yours as it is thinner and easier to work with but the soggy has to be cured.

This might work for the Perfect Apple Pie as well. Why does my bottom crust get mushy when I make fruit pies? I use Tapioca or Cornstarch in place of flour, but it happens even with flour. I read that an egg white wash on the bottom crust before putting the fruit apples, berries, rhubarb, etc.

A delicious apple pie starts with fresh apples. Pies made from canned apples grocery store apple pie filling are not good and have a soggy texture in my opinion. My father loves apple pie and I use this recipe for THE perfect pie. Also, I always use Granny Smith apples and fresh-squeezed lemon juice. It turns out perfect every time. My wife could not believe how unbelievably good this pie is. I thought I was gonna have to hide it as she would have eat the whole thing. That's definitely not her normal. Looks like I'm making 3 of these for thanksgiving. This pie was easy to make and very good. There was none left.

I gotta say Pillsbury you are the best and you save time when it comes to pie crusts!! I add walnuts and use pure maple syrup for sweetener instead of sugar.

I use tapioca instead of flour. Tapioca swells up and absorbs all the excess juices.
